Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ: FAQ

How many dancers are on the team / how many can be on the team?

It just depends on the talent that tries out! We go into tryouts wanting to accept as many fit-for-the-team dancers as possible. We've had team totals anywhere from 7-15 dancers. It all just depends, but this year we have 12 dancers on our team.

How do I attend a game to watch?

Come watch any home volleyball, soccer, or basketball game and we will likely be there! If you're interested in meeting us and Coach Brit at a game, send kcroosdanceteam@gmail.com an email to set up a date to come meet us at a game!

Does the team offer a scholarship?

YES! Our university offers a scholarship that covers three, 3-credit hour classes. That usually estimates to around $957.90 per year.

Are there requirements to remain on the team?

Yes!
1. You must be enrolled and stay enrolled in the university throughout your time on the team.
2. You must be a full-time student, which means taking at least 12 credit hours per semester.
3. You must maintain a good academic standing of a 2.0 GPA or higher.
4. You must meet team requirements (participating in fundraisers, maintaining good attitude, attendance to games/practices, etc.)

What are the technique requirements to be on the team?

We encourage our dancers to be well-versed in many areas of dance whether its flexibility, musicality, or movement. We look for a strong foundation in all areas but below are some specific technique requirements we look for in dancers who make the team:
- triple / quad pirouette
- strong fouettes / turns in second
- extensions and battements in all directions
- calypso, turning disc, firebird, etc.
- side / front aerial
- headspring / kip up
- tumbling

Do we need experience to be on the team?

Nope! Currently, all our members on the team have many years of dance background, but it is not a requirement to be on the team. Talent is talent!

What games do you attend?

Since we do not have a football team, we attend all home men and women's soccer games, volleyball, and men and women's basketball games! Our schedule is PACKED... but we love it!

How much of a time commitment is the team?

Our team is a big time commitment. Dancers are expected to show up to all practices, games, and mandatory extra events. We have practice 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday, for a total of 8 hours of practice a week... not including games or extra events!!!! Some weeks we will have 3-4 games, and others none! Our season usually starts getting extremely busy around mid-September and doesn't stop till after Nationals in early April.
